Due to the virtual format of the jog-a-thon, students picked up their Dolphin Dash t-shirts at the Hermosa Valley campus.

Hermosa Beach Parent Teacher Organization held its annual Dolphin Dash fundraiser last month. The goal of the 2.5 mile run is to raise $100,000 a year for the schools.

“It’s just a fun way to make some money for the school,” HVPTO Co-President Becky Scholten said.

To encourage participation, prizes were given out to runners and students who shared their fundraising pages.

“I was given a free cookie, a five dollar gift card and a free pizza,” seventh grade Hermosa Valley student Ethen S. said.

Most of the money raised will go towards the schools to pay for a variety of activities.

“Most of the money goes towards the schools for field trips and subscriptions on academic websites,” Scholten said.
