What is surfing?

  Ever sitting on the sand, eating a sandwich while watching all the people surfing having a blast on their boards? You could surf too.  When I first started surfing I found it easier to ride white wash , which the white foam that you see when a wave crashes that creates white wash. One reason that makes whitewash easier to ride is that you don’t need to have perfect timing to catch the wave. is a water sport, where you try to ride down the deep face of a moving wave. Most waves suitable for surfing are primarily found in the ocean, or in lakes or rivers. Some common ways of surfing are shortboarding and longboarding. A longboard is longer than most boards and and is easier to catch waves with, but a shortboard makes it is easier to maneuver. Some other surfboards are a funboard, fish, gun, hybrid and sup board.The different parts of a surfboard are the nose, tail, rail, rocker, fins, deck, foil and bottom contour.     

If you want to learn how to surf you should first be comfortable in the ocean . . As you get more comfortable paddling around in the water, you should try to paddle out past the break a few times. Don’t forget that timing is an important factor in surfing. If you paddle and are too far in front of the wave and don’t stand up quick enough, you might nose dive. If you stand up too soon, you might not catch the wave. You really have to have perfect  All waves are created by a swell, which is when wind is blown over large open water. The size of the swell is determined by the size of the wind speed. Ideal conditions of a wave is when the wind is blowing on the front of the wave, creating a tube or barrel. During the summer, tropical waters have what is called El Nino in the west, and La Nina in the east. Surfing was first found by british explorers in tahiti where they saw acapan culture who knew the art of surfing. It was noticed by lieutenant James King, who was the first person to write about the art of surfing. In 1907, Henry E. Huntington brought the art of surfing to the California coast. He first saw surfing in Hawaii when two young boys where surfing in the ocean. Surfers bring a diverse culture on how to ride waves. For some, it is a recreational activity and for others, surfing is the central  focus of their lives. Within the United States, surfing is most popular in Hawaii and California.  The sport of surfing created industrial clothes, footwear and culture. Most surfers now feel surfing as a dream and the ocean’s sound like music from heaven.
