Rogue One

Rogue One

The long awaited Star Wars sequel, or the eighth movie in the series, is finally coming out on December 16, 2016. Warning, spoiler alert!

I’m sure if you’re a big Star Wars fan you’ve already heard of the upcoming sequel to the previous one, “The Force Awakens”. The new one is scheduled to come out in theatres on December 16, 2016. It’s called “Rogue One”. The trailer was officially released on August 11, and has blown up on TV and online. Fans all over the world, or at least the U.S., are raving, especially since the previous film left everyone on a cliffhanger.

The last film, “The Force Awakens”, which came out December 16, was supposed to take place years after the 6th one, which was made in 1983. Upon it’s release in 2015, we met a new character. Her name was Rey. She had no idea that she was a Jedi, but she was! This incredible reveal has left everyone wondering who her parents are, for they must’ve been Jedi’s too. Theories have been flying around, but only one makes most sense. Luke Skywalker must be her father.

Fans who saw the last movie, Star Wars VII, were hoping to find that this new movie would follow up on what happened when Rey found Luke. However, this movie actually takes place between the III and IV, which were made at completely different times. Basically, the 4th, 5th, and 6th movies are actually the original 3, which were made 1977 through 1983. But the real 1st, 2nd, and 3rd were made in the 2000’s by George Lucas. So, Rogue One will be in between the 3rd and 4th.

I was doing some research about the movie and went to the Star Wars website ( and it gave me a list of the movies. There was a preview of the Rogue One, and here it is,

“From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.”

This movie seems interesting! So go check it out in theatres on December 16. And if you’re not a huge Star Wars fan, maybe you’ll become one.
