All About Cheetahs

Whoosh! what was that?” That was a cheetah. Cheetahs are one of the fastest animals in the world. They can go up to 75 mph in three seconds, which is faster than most supercars, such as Lamborghinis, Mclarens, and Ferraris, in terms of their acceleration.

Image result for cheetahsCheetahs are just meant for speed by having a aerodynamic structure, they also weigh only about 125 pounds on average. They have feet that are hard and flat. Which helps them grip the ground. Their aerodynamic structure helps by minimizing all the forces, such as making air go by faster. They also have partly intractable nails to help them grip to the ground. Intractable means their nails don’t go in and out, unlike other cats. The bad part is that they can only run for short distances at high speeds. Cheetahs can only run for about 30 seconds, until they have to rest.

Cheetahs live in Africa, South Algeria, Niger and Iran. Which is mostly a hot and dry climate. They hunt Gazelles, Wildebeest, Antelopes and much more. You might think it is easy to hunt with this speed, but actually, they only have five kills out of every ten tries.  Which means they only get a kill half the time. It is also very hard, because the animals they hunt can go from 50-60 mph, which is also a very high speed. They eat about 6.2 pounds of meat a day. Surprising Cheetahs only have to drink about one drink for every three to four days. Which is not a lot of water for a animal that can run up to 75mph.
